After Cezanne

After looking at art, I see lines and shapes and light with enhanced clarity and often find myself getting my camera out. This was the view from the entrance of Somerset House/Courtauld Gallery after seeing the Cezanne exhibition. Of Cezanne there is much more to say.

I well remember the Courtauld Gallery and their collection, which I visited with a blog friend last summer, and I recognize the view. Wish I could see the Cezanne exhibit but instead look forward to your review.

I agree -- 'seeing' is to be cultivated, like any other skill. It can be improved by the act of looking well at art...my drawing improved after I took up photography. Somehow the camera aided my 'seeing' better than my naked eye.

Went to the Gaugin yesterday, and was particularly impressed with his Cezanne influenced still life technique. Also, felt that the long, long time spent at the Courtauld in front of Nevermore by Gaugin was more worthwhile than the blockbuster, despite its erudition.

Tres Cezanne! The pictures do the work of that "more to say" about the artist.

Wow, decidedly surreal. It's as if the building has decided to uproot and make its way down the street! What might you achieve after a Man Ray exhibition, Jean?!
