Above the bus stop

Early morning. Slumped against the churchyard wall by the bus stop. The bus driver’s deep in his newspaper; we won't be leaving yet. Hiatus. From the blinkered space between sleep’s hangover and the numbing cold of a grey morning, look up… and up, and back and see the ordinary, extraordinary patterns on the sky. Zoom lens: eyes, then feet float up towards the tree-tops. Cool, dreamy clarity of Winter shapes. With me still at noon.

Wonderfully evocative, like a psychologist's inkblot.

Wonderful collage and accompanying text - a good example of why I keep returning to your blog(s), three years on.

On the subject of patterns, I ran across Oliver Sacks' piece on migraines and patterns and thought of you, Jean. It's here in case you are interested.

MB, that's very interesting, as Oliver Sacks always is. (Have you read his new book about music? - I'm impatiently waiting for it to come out in paperback). I've never had migraine aura - do you get it? I do sometimes have strange repetitive thoughts and feelings, though, before or after migraine attacks, and it's useful to think of these as probably neurological phenomena, rather than psychological.

I love those sorts of shots - I used to spend hours sketching them when I was a teenager
