Dancer

Finding this much-needed time off insanely difficult. Longing to float outside routine, recover a bit from too much work and not enough of anything else, but hopelessly out of practice at floating. I suppose this is why so many people drink too much on holiday, and argue. Words become pathetic. Maybe photos reassert a kind of aspiration.

Can you see the dancer? Keep looking.

I do see the dancer :-)

I wish we could go out dancing. It would be so out of character for us both that maybe we could pull it off. A secret compact to escape ourselves.

Thanks for these searingly honest posts.

Very good article on Edward Hopper, one of my favourite painters. His works are much more subtle in the original than in reproduction. He stayed true to his vision and didn't feel forced to go in for the avant garde. Have been looking (on Google!) at the paintings of Cumberland by Sheila Fell.

Can be difficult to be freewheeling after pressurised work, when (freewheeling) most actions have to be self-propelled - you can find you do 2 things a day instead of about 500, and feel a bit guilty - well, I do anyway. This is on off-days though...

The dancer is expressive!

That is so lovely, as are so many of your recent photos while on your break from work. Two weeks off! (This brings tears to my eyes - I really need some time off and can't even imagine that much time off all at once. A few days' vacation coming up mid-May, but off to visit my father... Still, a break.) Hope your float time continues to... float.
