Barbican

I've a friend who lives in the Barbican and have been there quite a bit lately. I'll never like the endless corridors and many clanging gates, the cavernous underground spaces or the vast Arts Centre, the most confusing building in London. But the uniform mauveish grey of the bricks, the still reflecting lake and peaceful sheltered gardens have their own austere charm
that increases as familiarity softens the shock of the estate's sheer size and density.

I don't think I'd like all the corridors either. Still, interesting.

There is something about the vastness of it that I rather like...but I dont have to live there.

Was only there once and didn't know what to make of it. I love your picture though.

Reminds me in a wonderful nostalgic way of the scene from Tarkovsky's Nostalgia only the water was in Italy and had steam rising from it... when I saw the documentary on his initial trip to Italy to scout for location and what sort of story he would compose, it was that scene of the water, which your photo reminds me of, that inspired the vision that became the movie... I've come back a few times, to look, to feel, thank you.
